CodeStream v0.52 – New Codemarks View Gets Even Better!

    David Hersh   Product Updates

Although the new view of codemarks isn’t even a few weeks old yet, we’ve already dramatically improved it!
The improved view makes your team’s codemarks significantly more accessible. No need to click to see the complete codemark, and the codemark can be expanded in-place for you to easily read, and participate in, the discussion.

You can even surface the most important comments in a thread so that teammates don’t have to go digging through a lengthy discussion to find the answer to a question.
The new view also allows you to create new codemarks in-place, with a new simplified form.

When you close an issue or archive a codemark they’re now still readily accessible from the same view… collapsed at the right side. Click to expand them individually, or use the filters in the new toolbar at the bottom to expand/collapse them all.

The toolbar also let’s you know if there are more codemarks in the current source file either above or below your current view.
In our last release we added shortcuts to make it easier to create codemarks, and now we’re allowing you to assign shortcuts to your codemarks. Create a set of bookmarks for parts of the codebase you touch frequently, assign them shortcuts (via the ellipses menu at the top-right of the codemark), and you’ll be effortlessly jumping around your codebase!

A simple, yet powerful, new codemarks view
If you’ve ever commented on a Google Doc you’ll be familiar with how comments are displayed along the right side of the document and aligned with the text you’ve commented on. This model for visualizing comments makes so much sense to us that we decided to bring that experience to CodeStream.

CodeStream now integrates with Jira, Trello, GitHub and other issue-tracking services

    David Hersh   Product Updates

CodeStream now integrates with Jira, Trello, GitHub, Asana, Bitbucket, and GitLab, making it incredibly easy to create an issue tied to a specific block of code, and have that issue appear in your existing issue-tracking service.
Whether it’s an informal review of someone else’s code, or just tracking your own FIXMEs, CodeStream makes it easy to formalize these tasks. Just select the block of code, type a comment, and pick an assignee. Now, with the slew of new integrations, creating an issue on CodeStream can also automatically create an issue in Jira, Trello and other services.
